Job Description

he Director of IT Operations will oversee New Belgium’s external and internal infrastructure. The individual will be hands-on and experienced in managing a multi-cloud infrastructure, multi-location spanning multiple states, and internal IT at scale and complexity. The candidate will be able to transform, drive scale & operations efficiency, and enable future strategy for business growth. They will drive a 24-7 support organization and interface with co-workers, internal stakeholders, and vendors. They will coach and develop a strong team of technical staff to sustain best-for-business technologies for our co-workers, partners and customers.

Ideal candidate will reside within driving distance to our Fort Collins, CO brewery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the vision, strategy, and roadmap for IT Operations
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including business units, vendors, partners, and regulators.
  • Ensure compliance, per regulatory requirements, with IT policies, standards, and regulations such as security, privacy, and governance.
  • Partner with supporting departments, providing engineering, architecture, and financial support to improve overall operations for Infrastructure, aligned with the business goals and priorities.
  • Lead teams that monitor and evaluate the performance, availability, and reliability of IT infrastructure services, and implement corrective and preventive actions as needed.
  • Lead teams responsible for evaluating, selecting, implementing, and supporting IT solutions
  • Develop and lead a culture of interdepartmental collaboration; driving best for business tech to exceed user expectations and outcomes; challenging traditional norms to build for New Belgium’s specific needs.
  • Ensure teams create, reconcile, track, and continuously adjust/communicate annual IT budget changes to drive efficiencies with scale.
  • Oversee and coordinate the rollout of company software and hardware solutions from a co-worker-centered strategy to minimize impact.
  • Lead teams in identifying potential blocks, gaps, or other impediments to successful delivery and address with effective solutions.
  • Oversee efforts to scale IT service desk functions efficiently while ensuring availability of systems and the handling of all co-worker’s requests in a timely, quality manner
  • Develop and communicate a compelling vision for ITSM, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve ITSM processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the overall quality of IT services.
  • Implement best practices and industry standards to ensure a consistent, scalable and effective approach to IT service delivery.
  • Mature IT Service Management (ITSM) processes, including incident, problem, change, and service level management according to ITIL best practices.

Key Result Areas:

Strategic Leadership:

  •  Develop and implement the overall technical operations strategy aligned with the company's business objectives
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to align technical operations with organizational goals and drive innovation in technology solutions

Team Management:

  •  Lead and mentor a high-performing team of technical professionals, including IT managers, system administrators, and support staff
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the technical operations teamExpertise in IT Service Management (ITSM) Processes, including incident, problem, change and service level management.

Infrastructure Management:

  •  Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's technical infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security in conjunction with the cybersecurity team
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement in infrastructure management

Operational Efficiency:

  •  Streamline and optimize technical operations processes to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime
  • Implement robust monitoring and reporting systems to identify and address operational issues proactively

Risk Management:

  •  Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks related to technical operations, including cybersecurity threats and data breaches in conjunction with the cybersecurity team
  • Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations

Vendor Management:

  •  Manage relationships with key technology vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the delivery of quality products and services
  • Evaluate and select new vendors to enhance the organization's technical capabilities

Budget Oversight:

  •  Develop and manage the technical operations budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation and cost-effectiveness adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to track and control IT-related expenditures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  •  Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, supply chain management, sales and marketing and other support departments, to ensure seamless integration of technical operations with overall business functions

IT Project Portfolio and PMO Activities:

  • Oversee the management of the IT infrastructure project portfolio, ensuring projects are aligned with business goals and delivered on time and within budget.

Green IT Initiatives:

  • Lead the design and implementation of Green IT initiatives, promoting sustainability and eco-friendly practices within the IT operations department.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption and minimize the company's environmental footprint.

Technology Evaluation and Adoption:

  • Stay at the forefront of technology trends, assessing new technologies and architectural paradigms.
  • Recommend and implement innovative technologies to enhance company productivity and competitiveness.

Vendor Management:

  • Negotiate and partner with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors for infrastructure-specific products and services.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Direct the infrastructure team to identify, report, implement productivity improvements and cost savings measures targeted at achieved net reductions in operating costs as a percentage of revenue.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field or equivalent years of experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive IT experience, with experience managing technology teams supporting hybrid infrastructure environments across many locations and teams with diverse functional responsibilities, required
  • Capable of demonstrating effective leadership, communication, and organizational skills with an outcomes-oriented mindset
  • Proven experience collaborating and preparing executive-level communications and effectively presenting ideas to senior IT leadership
  • Strong strategic planning discipline, with experience building and communicating business cases for technology change.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with business and IT stakeholders, as well as IT project and operations teams.
  • Able to assess necessary activities and prioritize for completion of assignments using excellent time management, prioritization skills, and work ethic.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a 24/7 response team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with exceptional listening, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Food and Beverage and/or Manufacturing prior experience, preferred
  • Expertise in supporting and enhancing Microsoft-centric environments

Wage information is provided in compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and is Bell’s and New Belgium's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation range and benefits offered for this position. The compensation offered to the successful applicant may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education, location, or other position-related reasons.

Starting Salary Range: $140,000.00 - $175,000.00
